The Urbana Police Department is committed to an educated, compassionate, and measured response toward individuals in our community who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Our Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) brings together law enforcement, mental health providers, hospital emergency services, and people with mental illness and their families. By working together and getting special training, CIT makes communication better, finds behavioral health resources for those in crisis, and makes sure everyone stays safe.
